The children of Child’s Play and also Camerata Child’s Play India performed in our first joint concert at Christmas-time. Held at the Caritas Hall in Panjim on 17 December, the concert was our way of showcasing the children and the orchestra.
The Camerata began the concert with their rendition of India’s national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ transcribed for strings by Dr. Luis Dias. This was followed by the children of Mitsuko Trust with their recorder version of the anthem. This performance brought tears to the eyes of many in the audience. The children followed this with other works for recorder.
Then came the children of Hamara School – recorder, flute and violins.
A choir of young children from Hamara School, conducted by Elvina Fernandes, entertained the audience with Christmas Carols.
The Camerata ended the concert with Corelli’s Christmas Concerto and a few popular Christmas carols.
A bigThank You to all those who worked hard to make this concert possible. To our teachers, our students, our musicians at the Camerata and to volunteers who brought the children to the venue and ensured they were looked after. Thanks also to William Dias at Caritas for always supporting us and our music. Merry Christmas!
